The Spartanburg Day School boys varsity basketball team cruised to a lopsided victory over Greenwood Christian Tuesday night in front of a capacity crowd at Erskine College. The Griffins ran out to a staggering 37-4 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and continued the onslaught en route to an 87-15 final.
Junior Zion Williamson led the way with 45 points, many on an array of dazzling dunks that delighted the assembled fans. Junior Chandler Lindsey added 22 points, as all 10 dressed players saw plenty of action.
Spartanburg Christian Academy
The Boys Varsity Basketball team improved to 20-6 on the season (6-0 in region) with a 52-38 victory at Spartanburg Christian Academy. The Griffins overcame a poor shooting night to earn the tough road win in a game marred with excessive and often intentional fouling.
Oakbrook Preparatory School
The Boys’ varsity basketball team drubbed Oakbrook 78-54 to move to 7-0 in the region and 21-6 overall. The win clinches the regular season title for SDS as it now readies for a showdown with Carolina Day on Thursday at home. The Griffins raced out to a 23-9 first quarter lead and never looked back, cruising to the 24 point win.
Zion Williamson was again sensational with 36 points, 21 rebounds and 5 assists unofficially. Chandler Lindsey and Kyle Tracy joined Williamson in double figures with 16 and 13 points, respectively. Sophomore Bishop Richardson added 7 points and 8 assists.
Carolina Day School
The Boys’ Varsity basketball team earned an impressive victory over old rival Carolina Day School on Thursday night at the Webster Athletic Complex. The Griffins weathered a slow start before mounting a 16-12 1st quarter lead.
