What do you wear when it doesn’t feel like November outside, but you want to start wearing your favorite fall fashions? If you’re struggling to stay stylish during these unseasonable temperature changes, you’ve come to just the right place.
For girls, it’s all about transitioning and staying fashionable when it’s freezing in the morning and warm by the time three o’clock rolls around. It’s a great idea to keep a cute jacket with you to start out the day and shed to a cooler layer when it warms up. One layering piece that girls will want to keep in their closet this season is the over-sized sweater. These looser-fitting cardigans make a great silhouette with skinny jeans while keeping you warm on chilly mornings. Even better, the relaxed style will complement whatever shirt you choose to wear underneath it.
What’s one of the most important pieces to complete your fall outfit? Shoes! This year, booties are a must-have for your fall wardrobe. For those of you who aren’t sure what booties are, they are probably not what you’re thinking; a bootie in the fashion world is an ankle-boot. Since they are short, they can be worn with just about anything, including dresses, skirts, and jeans. Booties are the perfect option when temperatures threaten to reach 80 degrees despite the fact that the calendar tells us it’s November.
Layering is also a good choice for boys when trying to stay flexible with fall weather. Light jackets from places like Patagonia, Columbia, and other outdoor companies go easily over a button down or polo, while still looking nice enough for school. Vests like this one are also a great alternative for autumn in South Carolina because they are very versatile.
Quick Style Tip: As the holidays are quickly approaching, adding some silver or gold shimmer to your outfit is always an easy way to make your look more festive.
Fashion Pick of the Month: November’s fashion pick goes to our very own Maggie Genoble, who is sporting a chic shoe that has recently become popular: the lace-up flat. The awesome thing about these is that you can dress them up or down, and they cross over into every season.
